Solar heating

Solar heating

A great way to heat your water in an environmentally friendly way... The earth receives more energy from the sun in just one hour than is used by humans in a whole year, so why not use this solar energy to heat water ?

This energy comes to us for free, and the technology to capture is is now readily available. Daylight can be used to heat your home's hot water, reducing the need to exploit fossil fuels and thereby reduce the impact you have on the environment.

What is Solar Heating ?

Solar water heating uses heat from the sun to warm up liquid pumped through a panel on your roof. In the most common kind of system, this liquid then goes through a coil in a hot water cylinder where the heat is transferred to water that comes out of your hot tap. Most systems have a small pump that moves water around the system.

Solar water heating should not be confused with photovoltaic systems which make electricity A solar water heating system is made up of three main components, solar panels, a plumbing system and a hot water cylinder.

How solar heating works...

A solar water heating system is made up of three main components, solar panels, a plumbing system and a hot water cylinder.

  • Solar panels are fitted to your roof and contain collectors. These collectors absorb and retain heat from the sun's rays and transfer this heat to a fluid.
  • The plumbing system is made up of simple piping and sometimes a pump, which moves the heated fluid around the system and through the hot water cylinder.
  • A hot water cylinder is used to store the hot water that is heated by the fluid being pumped around the system.

The special coated absorber surface picks up the solar radiation. The solar fluid is heated up and transfers the energy through an insulated pipe system to the hot water storage tank.

The pump will only be activated by the electronic control system when the temperature inside the collector is higher than the temperature inside the tank. If additional energy is required through periods of overcast weather either electricity or a conventional boiler can be used.

If space heating is used an even higher efficiency will be achieved. For this purpose a larger storage tank is needed. Especially during transitional periods of spring and autumn the consumption of fossil fuel can be reduced.

Depending on the energy consumption of the building savings of up to 50% can be attained.

So why install solar heating ?

The sun collectors we use are made exclusively in Germany and fullfil the highest standards of quality. The collectors are suitable for the use in hot water installations as well as for space heating support.

Through constant supervision of the material used and the manufacturing process these solar collectors guarantee the highest energy production during their long lifetime. The operational reliability of the special 4mm hail proofed security glass will not be influenced by weather or environment and even withstands heavy storms.

The double-walled aluminium frame and surrounding sealing of the glass with vulcanised edges made from EPDM guarantee tightness and stability on the roof. Moreover these solar collectors are produced environmental friendly and can be easily recycled after their long operating time.

General description:

  • Mountings made from aluminium and stainless steel
  • Various possibilities to mount the collectors on the roof
  • 6 collectors mounted in a row
  • Made in Germany
  • Proofed according to EN 12975
  • Applicable for Domestic hot water and heating support
